[E2] Seeking Arrangements

DOG is pleased to present Seeking Arrangements [E2], an exploration of floral design through the eyes of three local florists, Tyson Lee, Pearl Holmes, Colina Terui, and photographer Damien Maloney, opening June 24th, 2022. The second event at DOG considers the work of these artists in the context of space and in relationship with one another. Presented as ephemeral floral design and photographic installation, these expressions of beauty, navigation, symbolism, love, life, death, and fortune invite us into their worlds through arrangement. Colina Terui ↗ is a floral artist based in San Francisco. In her work she explores the tension between the glory of the season and its veiled decay, creating temporal realms that seek to honor the sculptural forms of nature. Mister Lee Designs is an innovative florist based in San Francisco founded by Tyson Lee. Known as a ‘Sculptor of Dying Things’, Tyson pushes the boundaries in the floral industry with his editorial and sculptural work. His work spans the gamut as he brings his unique floral styling to weddings, events and interiors. Pearl Holmes ↗ is a florist, botanical artist, and set designer based in Oakland, CA. Inspired by Bay Area landscapes, Japanese gardens, and Studio Ghibli, she seeks to bring fantasy through plants and flowers into everyday life. Damien Maloney ↗ is a photographer and artist working in California. His images are often portraits or still lifes that make use of specific lighting to zoom in on the tiny details. He subscribes to the idea that if you move or touch something the right way, something magical happens. Delicate textures and the ways that things are filled and/or emptied; the wearing of brands as flags that signal our allegiance to others; the tactile ASMR of surfaces that are familiar even when only glimpsed in an image.
